Who we are

Find out a bit more about the people behind this project

We are a group of village residents who feel passionately that we should have a fitting and visible War Memorial to remember the young men who gave their lives so we could live ours.

Jennifer Lewis Mason

My name is Jennifer Lewis-Mason and I am the Chairperson of the PSJ War Memorial Trust.

I arrived in Peasedown with my family to take over the Red Post Inn. I also opened Greensleaves a fruit and veg and floristry shop in the village.

I have travelled a lot but this village is where I call home.

Howard Hartley

I act as Secretary and share the role of Treasurer with Sheila for the Trust.

My aim is to steer the group through meetings and accurately transcribe their thoughts and wishes.

I am relatively new to the village, having moved from London almost three years ago.

I have a passion for environmental, community and social projects.

Sheila Clifford

When I became aware of the project to build a War Memorial I wanted to give my support and now share the role as Treasurer.

I have lived in the village for 45 years and during that time Peasedown has changed considerably, but at its heart, it remains a friendly and welcoming place where people value their community and heritage.

I feel it is so important that we create an appropriate Memorial as a reminder of those from the village who gave their lives, we owe them so much.

Colin Clifford

I was born in Peasedown and have lived here all of my life. I have a strong sense of pride in the village and respect for those who lived here now and in the past.

It is very exciting to be involved with the PSJ War Memorial Trust and I am sure my experience in the construction industry will make my contribution very valuable to the group.

Our aim is to install a fitting memorial, both visible and accessible for anybody to visit and reflect enabling them to remember those from the village who gave their lives so that we may live with the freedom we do today.

Szymon Talkowski

As a retiring engineer, I like nothing more than a project which involves design and creating ideas.

I was keen to join the PSJ War Memorial Trust as it encompassed many of my skills.

Any spare time I have is spent walking and meeting new people and look forward to discussing our aims with you at the many events we will put on during the fundraising part of our mission.

David Barr

I have been retired for 2 years now, my last role was that of an Insurance Specialist for a company in Bath.

I have lived in the area for 35 years after relocating from Sussex , of which the last 4 years have been in Peasedown St John.

As being probably one of the last generation that personally had a relative that endured World War II, I feel that it is imperative that everyone should have a public and accessible place to remember and be thankful for all the sacrifices that people from Peasedown St John made for us all.
